The wife of the Düsseldorf Police Council Rainer Bachmann is kidnapped. While trying to save his mother Monika, the adult son is shot dead. His widow Nicola desperately seeks support from the "Fuchs and Kilali" detective agency. She doesn't trust the police's investigation because she knows that her father-in-law's leadership style made many police officers into enemies. Anne and Youssef suspect an act of revenge and begin their work in the vicinity of Rainer Bachmann. Meanwhile, Anne's son Florian and his cellmate manage to escape from the Düsseldorf prison. No wonder that Anne is now being monitored - the police are expecting Florian to show up with her. The permanent shading doesn't make the detectives' job any easier. They also realize that the two cases are related - worse, Florian's life is in danger.
