10,000 marks - that is how much it would cost Erika Kornfeld to undergo breast reconstruction after a long-ago cancer operation. However, the 65-year-old pensioner does not have this money and neither the lady from the health insurance company nor her relatives show much understanding for her desire to be a "whole woman" again. Erika's best friends Dorle and Ilse are quite different. They are determined to help her financially. With all sorts of clever tricks and a good portion of chutzpah, the bon Vivian's had always managed to treat themselves to something despite a small bankroll. Now the senior citizens are doing small jobs to finance Erika's operation: They rent out their old Ford Taunus as advertising space, sell crocheted doilies or advertise incontinence panties. But all imagination is in vain, you don't get the money until the planned surgery date. In this situation, Ilse and Dorle develop astonishing criminal energy in order to find the missing sum: They rob a casino with a pistol made of cookie dough and chocolate icing. That brings a lot of money, but at the same time big trouble is not long in coming. Because while Erika seems to find the right man in the likable Fred, of all people, the casual Ilse lets the windy charmer Karl turn her head. But for Erika at some point the question arises anyway whether she really needs a new breast for her late happiness.
